My Story.

My academic life spans diverse roles across research-intensive universities (Imperial College London, King’s College London, University of Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff and Limerick) and within the NHS and private sectors. As an Associate Professor, NIHR and Versus Arthritis award-winning researcher, fellow of the Higher Education Academy, scientist, lead clinical academic, author, and certified coach, I’ve worked with a wide range of professionals across disciplines — from pure science, technology and biomechanics to healthcare and start-up business. I now use this distinctive insight and range of experience to support postgraduate students, early-career researchers, clinical academics and senior academic leaders in science, technology, engineering, medicine and business (STEMB).
I created The Academic Coach Space to provide confidential and independent coaching and mentorship for academics. My lived experience means that I understand just how demanding academia can be when you're balancing research, clinical work, teaching, caregiving, and your own wellbeing.
I believe that every academic should have the space they need to access bespoke coaching and mentorship. The Academic Coach Space serves to partner with academics in a holistic, non-judgemental way, helping individuals to identify their desired focus and work towards a clear, achievable plan using evidence based positive psychology and growth mindset approaches.
Over nearly three decades, personalised care has been at the heart of everything I have done in research and education. At The Academic Coach Space I continue to offer this personalised support — because I believe that your path should be as unique as you are. Whether you're a STEMB or Clinical Academic requiring mentorship and coaching or an organisation, trust or higher education institute that requires bespoke academic consultancy, I'm here to help you!
