The Book Club Space- Welcome!

If you're an academic, you’ll know exactly what I mean when I say this: Reading for pleasure or personal growth often falls to the bottom of the priority list.

Our reading time is usually consumed by academic journals, course prep, and research material. Even as someone who loves reading, I often find it hard to pick up a book that isn’t directly tied to work.

But every now and then, the right book finds its way in—something recommended by a colleague, a mentor, or a friend. And when that happens, it can be genuinely transformative.

So I’ve decided to create The Book Club Space* to share simple, honest reviews of books that aren’t academic in the traditional sense—but are still valuable to the academic life.

What You Can Expect Here:

  • Short, balanced book reviews

  • Titles that offer comfort, clarity, or new perspectives

  • No pressure to “analyze”—just room to reflect

My hope is that these posts might inspire you to carve out time for yourself—to read something just because it feels right, not because it’s on your to do list.

Enjoy this Space!
Janet
